Daniel Osei Ofosu, PhD

Daniel Osei Ofosu holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Post Harvest Physiology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He has over a decade of experience in the agricultural field, working as the Country Coordinator for the Program for Biosafety Systems (PBS) in Ghana and as a Research Scientist with the Biotechnology and Nuclear Agriculture Research Institute (BNARI) of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission for the past fifteen (15) years. He is currently the leader of the post harvest team at the Radiation Technology Centre (RTC). He is an old student of the Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC) and served as the President of his graduating year group from 2011 to 2018.

Daniel has taught at the Graduate School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences of the University of Ghana since 2010 and has authored numerous publications in peer reviewed journals on food, postharvest systems, biotechnology and biosafety. His major interest is in the development and sustenance of good agricultural systems. He is passionate about issues of biotechnology, biosafety, postharvest physiology and food production systems. He is motivated by the fact that the use of modern agricultural technologies and the proper handling of agricultural produce before and after harvest holds a great deal of prospects for the poor rural farmers who are the main backbone of economies around Africa to increase their income, reduce dependence on pesticides, ensure efficient land use, increase the nutritional value of crops they grow and better prepare them to withstand the effects of climate change.

His experience has fallen within so many sectors and over the last decade, he has contributed meaningfully to the field of education, agriculture, legislation and policy. He is in charge of interns and national service personnel posted to RTC.

Daniel is married to Jennifer and they have three (3) sons. He enjoys reading in his leisure time.
